Intimacy Through the Word
I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food. (Job 23:12)
The key to maintaining a radical prayer life with God is to feed on the Word, staying fresh in your relationship with God and fruitful in your ministries. The Word is meant to create a living, active dialogue in your heart with God.
Thank God for the truths you find in the Word and ask Him to reveal more. Commit to obey those truths as you ask Him for help to fully obey.
If you have regular times in the Word, then you will be able to meditate on the Word through the day as your hands are occupied with service. Your spirit need not wither as you journey with God.
There are three components necessary for the power of the Word to live in you. First, you must choose to pursue God with a spirit of obedience, faith and loving devotion. Second, you must feed your heart continually on the Word through meditation. Third, you need the activity of the Spirit to turn meditation into living revelation. You must fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
Gaining the Power
Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high. (Luke 24:49)
“Endue” means to cloth or to sink down, as in water – in other words - to be “endued with power from on high” is to be clothed with the Holy Spirit, in and out. “Power,” in Greek dunamis, means force, ability, miraculous power, strength, and might.
How do you gain this power you desire? “Prayer” ask God to anoint you with His power. “Impartation” is the transfer or bestowing of power and anointing from a Christian to those he is discipling or ministering to.
Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God. (Acts 3:6-8, emphasis added)
Impartation, the passing of the mantle endowed with power from on high, is vital. The mantle is a symbol of divine intimacy with God; of transformation. It is a conduit for signs and wonders. It is essential for the effective work of the Body of Christ.
To receive an impartation, you must find a mature believer with the Father’s heart whose anointing will compliment your gift and ministry. Passionately hunger and thirst for the mantle, be available, and be willing and ready to pay the price.
